The lesson was one of our first non-parent class. The organizer actually told us to leave the rink so as not to distract the kids. There were some lovely surprises. Steve's son is in the class. Steve and Dave have played hockey together for years so there is something quite lovely about the boys learning to skate together.
The other nice surprise was that our friend Torbin showed up for moral support.
We watched from a secret location within the community centre. First the kids learned how to stand up if they fell down, then they were told to fall on their side, then they were allowed on the ice.
Bodie looked like he was really focusing. I was worried he would be frustrated and discouraged afterwards but he loved it.
Later that day we played hockey at home. Bodie wore the new gloves Torbin bought him and he practiced falling on the "ice" and getting up properly.
