A Great Christmas

On the last day of 2013, I wanted to remember the great Christmas break we have had.  It was very special in part because Mum and Tyhson can down for Christmas.  It was the first time that Mum and Tyhson got to spend Christmas with Bodie and it has been years since Mum, Tim and I had Christmas together.

We have had a jam packed week and a half.  It started with a fun art class on the 21 with Anna and Lev.  On the 22 we went to Granville Island and saw Santa.  At Granville Island Santa takes the time to sing some songs with the children and read a few stories before he takes a few moments with each child. On Sunday evening, mum and Tyson came in.  Dave and I gave them a hug and a kiss and took off.  We went for a lovely dinner with Joanne and Torbin then to see a performance of the Messiah Arias which was delightful.

I had to work on the 23 of December. Mum and Tyhson spent the day with Bodie and Dave got some last minute shopping done.

On the 24th we may have started a new tradition.  We went to a Pantomime based on Jack and the Giant Bean Stalk at the York Theatre.  It was Bodie's first live theatre show.  He seemed to really enjoy it.  He sat quite still and laughed at all the right places (he was a bit afraid of the Giant).  Mum assured us it was quite like the Panto's she saw in England.  We then went to Ric and EB's for a nice dinner.

I should mention that we are in the middle of kitchen and living room renovations.  Mum and Tyson were great about putting up with the slight chaos and Mum was her usual helpful self keeping the place clean and us fed.

Bodie was very excited about Christmas and Santa.  We told him before he went to bed that it was important that he stay in bed until the sun comes up on his clock if he wanted to ensure that Santa would come.  We put out the milk and cookies and went to sleep.  At 5 am he yelled from his room, to let us know he was still in his room.  at 7 he needed to go to the wash room.  Bodie and I then read books until 7:30 am when the sun came up on his clock.  We finished reading the book (captain underpants) and then got everyone up.

We opened the stockings and Boide patiently waited for uncle Tim and breakfast before we opened up the other presents.  Bodie got what he wanted from Santa, Percy, Rocky and a Dino Basketball book.  He got some great gifts from other friends.

We then all made our way to Sarah and Joe's by one means of another and had a lovely dinner and opened more gifts including those from our Secret Santa.

Boxing Day included a fun skating party where we all got to play hockey.  Mum and Tyson left the next day.  That evening we went on the Stanley Park Christmas train.  Since then we have also gone to the aquarium and the maritime museum.

I should note that this post isn't completely accurate.  We have had some trying times with Bodie.  In the grand scheme they seem minor.  He wants to be independent and do things himself.  Sometimes it is just doing up his seat belt, sometimes it is wanting to run around the block himself or to see the penguins himself.  The other issue is napping.  Bodie doesn't want to, but he is some much better when he does.  I know this too will pass.
